QTech Games expands African portfolio through Shacks Evolution partnership

Deal strengthens international reach for African-developed gaming content as demand grows for mobile-first experiences in emerging markets.

Kenya.- QTech Games has signed a supplier partnership with Shacks Evolution Studios in a move aimed at expanding the reach of African-developed igaming content across emerging global markets.

The agreement will see QTech integrate Shacks Evolution Studios’ catalogue of instant-win, crash, virtuals and table games into its aggregation platform, expanding access for operators across Africa and other developing gaming markets. The deal is also expected to support Shacks Evolution Studios’ ambitions beyond the continent as the company looks to position its products for wider international distribution.

Shacks Evolution Studios said: “We are proud to partner with QTech Games to bring Shacks Evolution Studios’ content to a wider audience globally. With this integration, we look to build on the current reach of QTech within Africa and now set our sights on markets outside Africa officially.”

Founded in 2021, Shacks Evolution Studios has positioned itself as Africa’s first igaming studio, building games tailored for market conditions such as low-end devices, connectivity limitations, language localisation and data-cost sensitivity.

Shacks Evolution Studios’ content strategy is focused on fast-growing gaming markets such as Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Uganda, where demand for low-data, mobile-first and localised gaming products continues to rise.

As part of the partnership, Shacks Evolution Studios’ portfolio will bring crash games Busly and Matatu, virtual title Penaldo, wheel games Reel Wheel and Spin The Bottle, instant game Coin Toss, and mines game Citadel to QTech’s aggregation platform.

According to the companies, the games are designed to load quickly and address engagement challenges in emerging markets, including handset quality limitations, restricted network access and high mobile data costs.

QTech Games CEO Philip Doftvik said: “We’re committed to rolling out more and more high-class content for Africa, and this exciting new deal with Shacks Evolution Studios showcases an agile array of content which solves for fine-grained, local requirements in countries where light, rapid-load games are a must.”

Doftvik said localised content remained critical in high-growth regions such as Africa, where player behaviour is shaped by factors including mobile usage, data costs, device types and payment preferences.

He added: “From what we’ve observed in Africa to date, localised design drives player behaviour when it comes to: familiar mechanics reducing friction and increasing adoption; local themes and culturally relevant formats significantly lifting engagement; and faster game cycles increasing repeat play among younger cohorts. And Shacks Evolution Studios’ varied content embodies these requirements.”
