South Africa.- South Africa’s gambling regulator, the National Gambling Board (NGB), has launched a high-profile recruitment drive, seeking qualified professionals for senior roles to enhance regulatory oversight and strengthen governance in the gambling sector.
The roles, currently listed on the NGB’s official social media channels, include Manager: Communications & Stakeholder Engagements, Information Technologist: National Registers, and Manager: Finance. Finding competent hands for these positions is part of the Board’s strategy to boost operational efficiency, expand public education and improve collaboration with stakeholders across the gambling industry.
According to the job listing, the Manager: Communications & Stakeholder Engagements position offers an annual remuneration package ranging from R1,027,010 (€53,900) to R1,241,564 (€65,200), positioning it among the Board’s senior executive roles. Applicants must hold at least a three-year diploma or degree in marketing, communications, public relations or journalism, along with five years of relevant experience.
Likewise, the Information Technologist: National Registers role offers the same salary range and seeks candidates with qualifications in electrical or electronic engineering, computer science or information technology, together with proven experience in information monitoring within regulated environments.
The Manager: Finance position offers an all-inclusive annual package of R689,733 (€36,200) to R791,072 (€41,500), requiring candidates to hold finance or accounting qualifications and significant experience in financial management.
The NGB, operating under the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, is mandated by the National Gambling Act (2004) to oversee regulation of the gambling industry across South Africa, ensuring uniform standards and compliance across provincial boards and licensed operators. Its responsibilities also include public education on responsible gambling, research into industry patterns and impacts, and oversight of national registers and monitoring systems.
