KingMakers announces new group head, Keeran Subramony, amid Africa expansion

With an eye on innovation and high performance, KingMakers places its people-first strategy in the hands of seasoned South African HR strategist Keeran Subramony.

Johannesburg, South Africa – In a bold move that underscores its continental ambitions, KingMakers – the African sports and digital entertainment giant – has appointed HR veteran Keeran Subramony as its new Group Head of People.

The appointment signals a new era for KingMakers, a company on the cusp of exponential growth, as it doubles down on building a “people-first, high performance culture” across operations in Africa’s competitive igaming and betting landscape.

“I am delighted to join KingMakers, where I will be leading the people strategy. KingMakers’ ambition to become a truly pan-African betting and igaming platform is inspiring and I am eager to collaborate with a team dedicated to fostering a culture of high performance to realise this vision,” Subramony said.

For KingMakers, this hire isn’t just strategic, it’s symbolic.

“What excites me most is the opportunity to leverage my expertise in data analytics, people leadership and technology-driven innovation to drive positive change at KingMakers,” Subramony added.

“My goal is to cultivate a proactive people function that prioritises people first, ensuring that our strategies are both data-informed and human-centred.”

Impressive resume

Subramony’s impressive resume reads like a blueprint for the modern HR executive. His most recent position saw him leading HR strategy for Genpact across Middle East and Africa. Before that, he held senior roles at Massmart, including executive HR leadership at Massdiscounters (Game and DionWired) – culminating in his appointment as Head of HR.

He also brings academic firepower, holding a postgraduate diploma in Management Practice from Henley Business School, alongside a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Financial Management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Additional training at GIBS, Regent Business School and the University of Cape Town further bolsters his people-focused, data-informed approach.

As KingMakers eyes expansion, Subramony’s appointment is more than a title change, it’s a clear signal that the company is gearing up to win now just markets, but also the hearts of its people.
