Burkina Faso’s national lottery hails Banfora agency after 97% first-half performance
Leadership tour highlights strong regional performance despite staffing and internet connectivity challenges.
Burkina Faso.- Burkina Faso’s National Lottery (LONAB) has praised the performance of its Banfora agency after it achieved 97.03 per cent of its first-half 2026 target, with the result highlighted during a leadership visit to the regional office.
The July 15 visit formed part of Chairman Maxime Compaoré’s ongoing tour of LONAB’s decentralised structures. He was accompanied by Director General Ibrahim Zarani as part of an initiative to engage with field teams, better understand operational realities and support regional agencies.
Nicole Yilboudo, director of LONAB’s Bobo-Dioulasso Main Agency, said the Banfora agency achieved a 97.03 per cent completion rate during the first half of 2026 despite operating with a “reduced workforce”, according to a LONAB statement.
Welcomed by Banfora Agency Head Abdoul Ouedraogo, the delegation held a working session to review the agency’s results, operational challenges and development prospects.
Ouedraogo said the visit reflected the leadership’s commitment to listening to employees’ concerns. He highlighted the agency’s key challenges, including understaffing and recurring internet connectivity problems in some localities under its jurisdiction, which continue to affect day-to-day operations.
Speaking during the meeting, Compaoré congratulated employees on the results achieved and their daily efforts, describing the Banfora agency as strategic to LONAB.
Compaoré said: “The performance demonstrates the commitment and professionalism of the teams. We encourage you to keep up the momentum. The Board of Directors and the General Management remain committed to supporting the agency in resolving the difficulties identified and achieving its objectives.”
Leadership reaffirms agency support
Director general Zarani also praised the work carried out by the agency and reaffirmed the Board of Directors’ readiness to support initiatives aimed at improving working conditions and strengthening LONAB’s performance.
The delegation further assured employees that efforts are underway to gradually reinforce staffing levels and identify lasting solutions to the technical challenges reported, particularly internet connectivity issues, before concluding the visit with a tour of the agency’s facilities.
LONAB said the visit formed part of its efforts to strengthen dialogue with field teams, better understand the operational realities facing its regional agencies and support their contribution to achieving the operator’s objectives.
