888 Holdings receives licence for igaming in Ontario
The operator will be among the first to launch in the Canadian province’s igaming market, which will open on April 4.
Canada.- Online betting and gaming operator 888 Holdings has received licence approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to offer igaming in the Canadian province. It will be among the first operators to launch in the regulated Ontario igaming market, which will open on April 4.
The operator will offer online casino, sport, and poker products powered by its proprietary technology. The licence approval is an important step in 888’s growth strategy.
888 chief executive, Itai Pazner, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a licence by the AGCO and look forward to launching in the market when it officially opens.
“As a group, our focus is on strengthening our presence and offer to customers across key regulated markets. To that end, Ontario represents an attractive long-term growth opportunity for 888 and this is an extremely strategically important milestone for us.”
iGaming Ontario (iGO), a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (ACGO), announced in January that Ontario will open its legal igaming market on April 4. Approved operators will need to sign off on an operating agreement with iGO before they will be able to launch. Igaming was originally expected to be operational in December 2021.
