Virginia sports betting handle decreases in December
The handle decreased 3.19 per cent year-over-year.
US.- The Virginia Lottery has released its report on sports wagering activity for December 2025. The handle was $710.9m, down 3.19 per cent year-on-year and 11 per cent sequentially.
According to the report, adjusted gross revenue (AGR) totalled $79.2m. That’s an increase of 80.8 per cent in year-on-year terms but a decline of 16.9 per cent month-on-month. Of the total, mobile operators registered $79.1m, and retail $115,064.
Winnings totalled $627.5m, with a combined 11.7 per cent operators’ win percentage, 5 per cent higher than December 2024. Of the fourteen mobile operators and three casinos, ten reported net positive AGR, leading to $11.9m in tax payments for the month.
Adjusted gross revenue (AGR) at Hard Rock Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, Caesars Virginia and the Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk was $86.5m. Slots generated $62.8m and table games $23.7m. The state collected $19.8m in taxes paid to the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
Caesars Virginia led the market with $36m in AGR: $25.2m from slots and $10.8m from table games. Rivers Casino Portsmouth reported $26.7m, with $18.9m from slots and $7.8m from table games, Hard Rock Bristol posted $22.7m in AGR: $17.6m from slots and $5m from table games.
The Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk, which opened in November, reported $1.1m in AGR from slots. Boyd Gaming and the Pamunkey Tribe’s $750m permanent casino is expected to open in 2027.
