Virginia casino revenue increases in December
Revenue was $86.5m, up 15.4 per cent year-over-year.
US.- The Virginia Lottery has released its report on casino gaming activity for December. Adjusted gross revenue (AGR) at Hard Rock Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, Caesars Virginia, and The Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk was $86.5m. That’s an increase of 15.4 per cent year-over-year.
Of the total casino revenue, slots generated $62.8m and table games $23.7m. The state collected $19.8m in taxes paid to the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
Caesars Virginia led the market with $36m in AGR, generating $25.2m from slots and $10.8m from table games. Rivers Casino Portsmouth reported $26.7m in AGR, with $18.9m from slots and $7.8m from table games, Hard Rock Bristol posted $22.7m in AGR, with $17.6m from slots and $5m from table games.
The Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk, which opened in November, reported $1.1m in AGR from slots. Boyd Gaming and the Pamunkey Tribe opened an interim gaming hall in Norfolk ahead of a $750m permanent casino expected to open in 2027.
Recently, the Virginia Lottery Board unanimously approved the casino facility operator’s licence for PPE Casino Resorts Petersburg. The venue has become the fifth approved casino facility operator in the state.
According to the Lottery, PPE Casino Resorts Petersburg plans to open a casino near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Wagner Road. The planned casino in Petersburg will join four other approved casinos in Bristol, Danville, Norfolk, and Portsmouth.
