Las Vegas Sands explores UAE expansion as region develops gaming framework
The casino operator is targeting growth in the Middle East as the country establishes a regulated gaming environment and prepares for its first resort opening.
Las Vegas Sands is exploring expansion into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the country positions itself as a significant new regulated gaming market.
According to GuruFocus, the company is actively pursuing opportunities in the Middle East, describing the UAE as a region poised to become a major gaming hub. The update follows a leadership transition where Patrick Dumont assumed the role of chief executive on March 1, succeeding Robert Goldstein. The company is evaluating growth opportunities beyond its existing operations in Macau and Singapore, while also assessing a potential destination-resort casino project in North Texas, subject to regulatory approval.
The only approved casino project in the country to date is Wynn Al Marjan Island, being developed by Wynn Resorts in Ras Al Khaimah, with the resort expected to open in 2027.
