Tennessee sports betting handle decreases slightly in January

The gross handle declined 1.1 per cent year-over-year and 0.3 per cent from December.

US.- Tennessee’s sports betting gross handle was $534.6m in January. That’s a drop of 1.1 per cent year-over-year and 0.3 per cent from December 2025.

The Tennessee Sports Wagering Council (SWC) reported that after $3.4m worth of adjustments, gross wagers amounted to $538m. Privilege tax totalled $9.88m. The council did not provide a breakdown by operator or sport, nor did it disclose specific operator revenues.

Tennessee lawmakers recently introduced a pair of bills aimed at banning online sweepstakes casinos in the state. House Bill 1885, introduced by Representative Scott Cepicky, and Senate Bill 2136, sponsored by Senator Joey Hensley, seek to classify the operation of promotional sweepstakes models as an “unfair or deceptive act or practice affecting trade or commerce, and is subject to the penalties and remedies as provided in the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977.”
