Tennessee sports betting wagers increase in March

Wagers rose by 37.2 per cent from February.

US.- Tennessee’s sports betting gross wagers reached $572.7m in March, up 37.2 per cent from February. According to figures released by the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council (SWC), adjustments of $2.8m brought the handle to $569.8m.

The tax take was $8.7m, up 14 per cent from February. The SWC did not provide a breakdown of betting by operator or sport or information on operator revenues.

Tennessee’s legal online sports betting market launched in November 2020. The state’s monthly record for gross sports wagers is $598.6m, set in November 2024.

The Tennessee gaming regulator recently announced new rules for sports betting in the state. Effective from June 30, 2025, the rules add multi-factor identification requirements for various account activities, define more responsible gaming terms and introduce new conditions on the processes for voiding or cancelling wagers. There are also changes to know-your-customer (KYC) requirements, marketing and advertising rules and more.

The regulator says Tennessee is the largest online-only sports betting market in the US. More than $4.7bn was wagered in the last fiscal year.
