Swedish gambling regulator issues another banning order
Spelinspektionen said the operator had been targeting Swedish players without a licence.
Sweden.- The Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has issued a banning order against the online casino operator Simba. It said it found three of the operator’s brands to be targeting the Swedish market without a licence.
The regulator said Simba’s Betblast, SlotMonster and FoxyGold dotcom sites preselectied Sweden’s country code when it tried to register from a Swedish IP address. It also found marketing for Betblast and SlotMonster on Swedish-language affiliate websites and advertising platforms, while FoxyGold was promoted by a content creator on the streaming site Twitch.
Simba is based in Curaçao. It’s the latest in a regular stream of operators to be hit with banning orders from the Swedish gambling regulator – many of them licensed on the Dutch Caribbean island. Last month, Spelinspektionen issued orders against EOD Code SRL, Igloo Ventures SRL and MIBS NV and in April it banned Newera Frozen PTE Limited, Aprodi Limited and Galaktika NV.t. Promotion on Twitch was also cited in some of those cases.
The regulator said: “The Swedish Gambling Authority assesses that Simba provides games in Sweden because the company has set the Swedish country code as the default country code when registering on the websites betblast.com, slotmonster.com, and foxygold.com from a Swedish IP address.
“In addition, the company markets the websites to Swedish consumers through Swedish-language affiliates. “Furthermore, the Swedish Gambling Authority notes that marketing of the website slotmonster.com was still taking place, as of June 9, 2025, via advertising spots on a Swedish-language website.”
Meanwhile, Spelinspektionen has placed state-controlled Svenska Spel, the Swedish Horse Racing Totalisator Board, AB Trav och Galopp (ATG) and Malta-based Lotto Direct under supervision while it investigates whether they failed to comply with a Swedish Gambling Act of 2018 provision that requires gambling licensees to inform the regulator of any changes to their applications or registrations.
It also recently issued fines for AML failings to Betsson Nordic, Snabbare and Flutter’s The Stars Group (TSG Interactive). The latter received the heftiest fine of SEK7m (€642,260) after the regulator found that multiple customers had exceeded net deposits of SEK424,514 within a 12-month period, which should have triggered enhanced due diligence and source of funds inquiries.
