Sweden’s self-exclusion registry keeps growing

The local gambling regulator said that the self-exclusion registry has reached the 30k mark.

Sweden.- The Spelinspektionen, Sweden’s local gambling regulator, has revealed that the spelpaus.se registry keeps increasing the number of self-excluded people. By April 1, 30,000 people had chosen to be in the registry.

The registry was launched on January 1, 2019, and saves the names of those who desire to exclude from the new regulated online gambling market. The regulations were first outlined last year, and all operators were advised to check the Spelpaus program before new marketing campaigns or allowing their customers to play. The operators must also feature a link to Spelpaus on their sites.

“When you shut down you cannot play with the gaming companies that have a Swedish licence and who are covered by registration. This means that you cannot play at agents in stores and on trotting lines, online casinos, betting, vending machines, computer simulated slot games, bingo and online lotteries and Casino Cosmopol,” said Spelinspektionen.
