Sweden issues 16 gaming licences
The local regulator is getting ready to open the new market to foreign players in 2019.
Sweden.- The Lotteriinspektionen, Sweden’s local gaming regulator, announced that it has granted licence applications for 16 gaming companies ahead of the reorganisation of the local market due at the beginning of 2019.
The regulator said that so far it has received 93 licence applications, and more than 70 involve games in the online gaming market. The entity, which is set to change its name to Spelinspektionen at the end of the year, emphasises that this is the first of many decisions to be announced.
The companies that have been licensed are: AB Svenska Spel licence for gaming, subject to state, lottery and vending machines; AB Horse racing (ATG) – licence for online gaming and betting; Autonordic Ltd. (Sweden Slot) – licence online; Betsson – licence for online gaming and betting; Casumo – licence for online gaming and betting; ElectraWorks Limited (Bwin, PartyPoker) – licence for online gaming and betting; Hillside Sports (Bet365) – licence for betting; Hillside Gaming (Bet365) – licence for online gaming.
The list is completed by: Interwetten Gaming Ltd. – licence for online gaming and betting; Leo Vegas Gaming – licence for online gaming and betting; NGG Nordic (Nordic Bet) – Online Game and Betting Licence; Skill On Net Ltd – Online Game Licence; Spooniker Ltd (listed) Unibet, Maria Casino, etc.) – Online Game and Betting Licence • SuprPlay Limited Online Game Licence; Svenska Spel Sport & Casino AB – Online Game and Betting Licence and Tombola (International), Online Game Licence.
The companies that are not on the list but submitted their application and completed “in due time” will be given a decision in their cases in the coming weeks, depending on the complexity of the case, according to the regulator’s Chief Patrik Gustavsson.
”This is a historic day for us. I am very proud that the Lotteriinspektionen’s staff under severe pressure, with a whole new legislation, worked out the first licence decisions,” said Camilla Rosenberg, Director General of the Lotteriinspektionen.
