Stats Perform nets UK football deal
The sports data specialist has clinched a deal for exclusive rights to event data on major English and Scottish football leagues.
UK.- The US Sports data specialist, Stats Perform, has signed an exclusive deal with Football DataCo to gather and distribute event data for all the major English and Scottish football leagues, including the English Premier League.
The deal will allow Stats Perform to deliver detailed data internationally to media, sportsbooks, fantasy sports operators and professional teams.
It gives the company the rights to player tracking and player market data that it will distribute to sportsbook and fantasy sports operators for use in both pre-game and in-play betting on player statistics.
Stats Perform will also gain the rights to the distribution of artificial intelligence-powered insights for broadcast and other media. The AI data will be developed by FDC Labs, a new partnership between Football DataCo and tracking technology firm Second Spectrum.
Stats Perform Chief Rights Officer, Alex Rice, said: “We are honoured that our investment in collecting and distributing the fastest, most accurate detailed event data with the utmost professionalism has again been recognised by Football DataCo, and are excited to use our trusted data as the foundation to drive even deeper connections to some of the world’s greatest teams and players, through our FDC Data Labs partnership.”
Football DataCo General Manager, Adrian Ford, said: “Extending our partnership with Stats Perform was an obvious choice. The Opta data brand is strong and the business has a deep understanding of football, vital factors for our leagues who want the best and most trusted data.
“Stats Perform will build on these strong foundations and continue to drive innovation through our FDC Labs partnership, using data to tell new stories for fans who have an appetite for greater insight into the beautiful game.”
Data from Football DataCo used for betting comes under an existing rights deal with Genius Sports Group, which was signed in May 2019.
“It’s great to have Stats Perform inside the official data tent,” Genius Sports Group Chief Executive, Mark Locke, said.
“This deal keeps official data at the heart of betting on UK football.”
Stats Perform already has the rights to data from Spain’s La Liga, France’s Ligue 1 and US Major League Soccer. In January, it signed an agreement on data rights with South America’s CONMEBOL.
