SiGMA Central Europe 2025 concludes in Rome with regulation and the future of igaming in the spotlight

SiGMA Central Europe 2025 closed in Rome on November 6, uniting the igaming sector for debates on regulation, AI, technology and market growth.

Italy.- The first edition of SiGMA Central Europe in Rome concluded on November 6, after three intense days where the sector’s leading representatives gathered to discuss the latest industry developments, meet potential clients, and shape the future of igaming.

Strong turnout and an active show floor

The exhibition buzzed with traffic throughout the week as the most renowned industry players showcased product roadmaps, content portfolios and turnkey solutions. Meanwhile, the venue became the ideal setting for regulators, industry experts, politicians, and representatives from different companies to come together to discuss and exchange ideas, predictions, and announcements.

Regulation and market outlook

Regulatory frameworks dominated the programme, with panels comparing licensing regimes, enforcement priorities and advertising rules across the EU, the Balkans and Central/Eastern Europe. Speakers examined channelisation, the pressures of stricter marketing codes on acquisition and retention, and the operational impact of evolving AML and data‑protection standards. Taxation trends and supervisory expectations were recurring concerns for both incumbents and challengers.

There was also time to discuss AI and new technologies. Some sessions explored personalisation at scale, safer‑gambling risk modelling, and automation in customer support. Suppliers highlighted modular platforms, content orchestration and tooling to optimise RTP, volatility and session management. Operators, meanwhile, stressed shorter deployment cycles, observability and resilience as competitive differentiators, alongside clear governance for AI use.

The future of igaming

On the People, Partners and Performance Stage at SiGMA Central Europe 2025, a SOFTSWISS‑backed panel, featuring Ivan Montik (SOFTSWISS), Heathcliff Farrugia (SiGMA Group), Pierre Lindh (NEXT.io) and Denis Ristić (Popiplay), framed the sector’s near term as more evolution than revolution. The speakers urged collaboration over rivalry, noting that Europe’s fragmented interests lack the unified industry voice seen in the US. While regulatory harmonisation across the EU is inching forward, panellists argued that industry‑led cooperation can accelerate progress and resilience.

Debate then centred on striking a workable balance between innovation and oversight. The panellists warned that overregulation risks stifling products and suggested fresh models for offerings that sit outside traditional “wager‑chance‑prize” definitions. From a B2B lens, studios face rising licensing and compliance costs while designing entertainment‑led content for younger audiences. Looking to 2026, they anticipated faster regulatory dialogue, standout products that blend creativity with compliance, and a shift from hype to innovations that deliver measurable impact—think AI‑driven personalisation and player‑first engagement rather than chasing every trend.

Start‑ups and the investment climate

SiGMA Pitch was about much more than a competition; it embodied the very core of innovation that fuels the international gaming and technology sectors. Supported by respected industry partners – Amazon Web Services (AWS), ZBX, Chips, R77-Global, CSB Group and the iGaming Academy – it served as an essential platform for founders to pitch their products, obtain funding, and build high-value partnerships.

Each startup took to the stage to share brief, yet engaging, presentations that simplified complex ideas into practical solutions that addressed the industry’s changing needs.  From advanced AI integrations and gamified engagement tools to responsible gaming solutions, participants demonstrated that creativity and a solid understanding of technology are still at the centre of the evolution of igaming.

In an intensely competitive field, one name rose above the rest. Konstantinos Antonopoulos, Founder and CEO of INTERAD AE, the Greek technology company behind the innovative platform TOROTIPS, was declared the winner of the SiGMA Pitch Central Europe 2025 competition.

The judges were impressed by the technical depth, scalability, and practicality demonstrated in his presentation, putting TOROTIPS and  INTERAD AE on the radar as a company and product to watch in 2025.

Awards night celebrated achievements across platform, product, compliance and services. Focus Gaming News was recognised as “Best iGaming Media 2025”, reflecting a year of trusted reporting, analysis and global coverage for the betting and gaming community.
