Severe crackdown on Chinese casinos
The media reported over 70 cases of shut down Chinese casinos after severe crackdown.
China.- The China Youth Daily reported that the Chinese government has demanded the closure of 76 casinos during a severe crackdown on the industry across the country. Other 26 gaming venues have suspended their activities following orders from the Ministry of Culture (MOC), which is in charge of the legal operations.
According to Monday’s article from the China Youth Daily, the Ministry requested the investigation of 38,000 casinos countrywide. The national crackdown revealed 355 cases of illegal gaming operations and the closure of the 76 casinos. The investigation was held by over 100,000 law enforcement officers.
Gaming activities, including slots and betting, are prohibited in China and the Ministry of Culture insisted that any gaming venue which offers casino services will be closed and the license will be revoked. Current gaming legislations are monitored by the MOC and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in mainland China.
Furthermore, Chinese residents were urged to contribute to the government’s crackdown by reporting illegal gaming activities in local venues. Residents can contact authorities through the ministry’s website or a governmental special hotline. As the China Youth Daily also revealed, four gaming websites have been recently banned from the online platforms in the country.
