Rivalry has been approved to become one of the first fully registered operators of igaming and sports betting in the province.

Canada.- Sports betting and media company Rivalry has been approved to become one of the first fully registered operators of igaming and sports betting in the Canadian province of Ontario. Approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the company will be able to start operating when Ontario´s online gaming market officially starts on 4 April.

In October, Rivalry announced that it had applied to become a fully registered operator for sports betting and Internet gaming in the province of Ontario. The firm submitted an application for a sports betting and Internet gaming licence with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

Ontario to launch online gaming on April 4

Last month, iGaming Ontario (iGO), a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (ACGO) announced that the Canadian province of Ontario will open its legal igaming market on April 4.

Approved operators will need to sign off on an operating agreement with iGO before they will be able to launch. Igaming was originally expected to be operational in December 2021.
