Pennsylvania gaming revenue falls in February due to Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl win

The regulator reported revenue of $477.2m for the second month of the year.

US.- Pennsylvania’s combined revenue from regulated gaming and fantasy contests reached $477.2m in February. That’s a 4.4 per cent decrease compared to February 2024, and 9.8 per cent behind January’s revenue. Tax revenue generated through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $202.5m.

Retail slot revenue decreased 8.1 per cent year-on-year to $186.3m, while retail table games revenue decreased by 7 per cent to $71.1m. According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s report, the online gaming segment saw revenue increase by 12.3 per cent to $207.6m. Online slot revenue reached $154.3m, while internet table games revenue was $50.9m and online poker revenue $2.4m.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National generated $77.6m, up 0.5 per cent, leading the market. Valley Forge Casino Resort posted $56.6m, up 26.5 per cent and Rivers Casino Philadelphia $34.2m, up 17 per cent.

The sports wagering handle was $756.9m, 14.4 per cent above February 2024, but revenue was down 75 per cent year-on-year at $7.5m. Online sports betting generated $10.3m in revenue and retail wagering -$2.9m. Valley Forge Casino Resort generated $13.7m from a handle of $284.5m, but no other Pennsylvania casino took sports betting revenue of more than $150,000, and only six made a profit as a result of the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl. Live Casino Pittsburgh generated $145,583 from a handle of $866,247, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia posted $115,186 from a handle of $12m.
