Oregon Lottery reports year-over-year rise in Super Bowl betting handle
Players placed $8.4m in wagers.
US.- The Oregon Lottery has reported that Oregonians placed $8.4m in wagers for the Super Bowl through DraftKings, up from $8.2m last year. Revenue totalled $1.3m.
According to the report, more than 450,000 bets were placed. The average wager on the game held on February 8 was $18.30.
Oregon saw a 9 per cent increase in the number of unique, active players who placed a wager. Last year, players placed 456,000 bets. Oregon Lottery debuted online sports betting in October 2019.
Kerry Hemphill, Oregon Lottery sports betting products manager, said: “The Super Bowl is a significant revenue-driving event for Oregon. This year, revenue trended down from last year because of the strong in-state support for the Seahawks, who were favored and won.”
Figures from other US states show that in Nevada, $133.8m was wagered across the state’s 186 sportsbooks. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) reported that Atlantic City casinos, racetracks and the state’s 14 online sportsbooks took $126.5m in bets with a projected payout of $87.8m.
A Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) report shows that $59.3m was wagered through retail and online sportsbooks in the Commonwealth. That’s a 41.6 per cent decrease over wagers placed for the 2025 Super Bowl ($101.5m).
