Ontario igaming wagers increase year-over-year in April

Figures show an increase from CA$7.8bn in April 2025 but a 3 per cent decrease from March’s CA$9.59bn.
 

Canada.- igaming Ontario has reported that online gaming wagers in the Canadian province totalled CA$9.3bn in April. That’s an increase from CA$7.8bn in April 2025 but down 3 per cent from March’s CA$9.59bn. Non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR) was CA$405.4m, up 5 per cent from the previous month.

According to the report, the online casino gaming segment accounted for 87 per cent of all wagers at CA$8.1bn, down 2 per cent from March. Online casino NAGGR was CA$314.1m, down 1 per cent.

The sports betting segment accounted for 11 per cent of wagers at CA$1bn, down 3 per cent. NAGGR was CA$86m, up 40 per cent. Peer-to-peer poker contributed CA$128m, down 30 per cent from the previous month. NAGGR totalled CA$5.3m, down 24 per cent.

igaming Ontario recently announced the launch of BetGuard, a tool that enables individuals to voluntarily opt out of all Ontario-regulated online gaming platforms via a single online portal. Exclusion prevents players from accessing existing accounts, creating new accounts, or receiving marketing communications from any regulated igaming site in the Canadian province.
