According to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, casinos generated 21.4 per cent less revenue than in September 2020.

US.- Casinos in New Orleans generated 21.4 per cent less revenue in September than a year ago as a result of Hurricane Ida. According to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, revenue from the three riverboat casinos, Harrah’s and the slots at the Fair Grounds came in at $26.5m. In September 2020, revenue was $33.7m.

Winnings at the 13 riverboats, four racinos and Harrah’s were $159.7m compared to $126m in 2020; an increase of 27 per cent. The lucrative Lake Charles gambling market was still recovering from Hurricane Laura in September 2020 and the two casinos and Delta Downs were closed for more than 10 days.

Harrah’s suffered the biggest drop in revenue due to its one-week closure, causing its revenue to drop by 42.1 per cent.

In August, casinos in New Orleans reported declines in revenue after Hurricane Ida forced closures for several days. Casinos generated $30.5m, down 5.3 per cent from $32.2m in the same month last year.
