New Hampshire could legalise sports betting
Dedicated retail outlets for sports betting could make their first appearance in the US if a bill to regulate them passes.
US.- The New Hampshire General Court has been quite active over the last few years in regards to gambling legislation. The state has already legalised daily fantasy sports (DFS), has repeatedly rejected casino bills and will now consider passing legislation to allow the sports betting segment to operate in dedicated retail outlets.
HB 480-FN was recently introduced and states: “This bill authorises the Lottery Commission to conduct sports betting directly or through an authorsed agent via the use of mobile internet devices and through physical sports book retail establishments.”
It is expected that it will pass some time before July 1, paving the way for the segment, which would be overseen by a Division of Sports Wagering.
“The commission and its agents may operate physical sports book retail locations within the state for the purposes of accepting and paying prizes relating to sports wagers. The sports book retail locations may be co-located with other commercial businesses or general commercial retail locations,” the proposed legislation says and adds: “The request for proposal (RFP) process will result in a contracted Sports Betting Agent on or before January 1, 2020 with the first sports wagers being offered around July 1, 2020.”
