Nebraska online sports betting amendment advances to Senate floor
If approved, a constitutional amendment would be placed on the 2026 ballot.
US.- The proposal to allow a public vote on the legalisation of online sports betting in Nebraska will move to the Senate floor after approval from the Nebraska Senate General Affairs Committee in a 6-2 vote. LR20CA, introduced by senator Eliot Bostar, would allow a constitutional amendment to grant a referendum.

The bill needs a two-thirds majority in three separate votes on the Senate floor to proceed. If approved, it would allow state voters to decide whether they want legal online sports betting on a ballot question in the November 2026 general election and the potential implementation of online sports betting in 2027.
The bill would allow up to six online sports betting platforms to partner with licensed racetracks and offer digital wagering. Tax revenue would go mostly to the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund and state education. There was strong opposition at a public hearing on March 10, but supporters argue that legalising online betting would capture lost revenue and redirect it into the Nebraska economy.
Nebraska voters approved retail sports betting through a referendum in November 2020.
