Nebraska joins US gambling self-exclusion programme

Participants can self-exclude from casinos and pari-mutuel wagering.

US.- The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission (NRGC) has announced that the state has joined the National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program (NVSEP). The move allows people to voluntarily exclude themselves from casinos and pari-mutuel wagering through the online app.

The expansion of NVSEP follows the addition of the state of Wyoming in December. NRGC said the move marks a milestone in the state’s responsible gaming framework and strengthens collaboration with other jurisdictions. Participants can choose the exclusion duration, complete identity verification, and sign and submit their information.

Casey Ricketts, executive director of the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission, said: “The NRGC is excited to join the growing number of regulators coming together to strengthen player protection in the industry as part of the NVSEP platform. We are committed to improving Responsible Gaming tools and helping individuals and families affected by problem gambling. By participating in idPair’s national program, we are lowering barriers to help and providing support that extends beyond state lines.”

Jonathan Aiwazian, CEO of idPair, the organization operating the NVSEP platform, added: “We thank the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission for their commitment to Responsible Gaming and for moving swiftly to make NVSEP available to players. Our streamlined launch process is designed so regulators can act efficiently and with confidence, accelerating access to critical player safety tools. We hope Nebraska’s example inspires other jurisdictions to prioritize implementation and expand these protections for more people.”

National Council on Problem Gambling adds new affiliate members

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) recently announced the addition of the Texas Coalition on Problem Gambling and the Vermont Council on Gaming and Health as its newest state Affiliate members. It now has affiliates in 37 US states.

While NCPG advocates for programmes, policies, and funding at the national level, its state affiliates connect individuals and families with local resources, community partners, and support. It said that Vermont allocates annual state funding for problem gambling prevention and treatment, while Texas remains one of seven states without any public funding for problem gambling services.
