Missouri casino revenue rises year-over-year in August
Revenue was up 9 per cent in year-on-year terms.
US.- The Missouri Gaming Commission has reported that the 13 riverboat casinos in the state generated $177.5m in revenue in August. That’s a rise of 9 per cent in year-on-year terms.
Slot machines generated $151.8m, up 9.01 per cent year-on-year. Revenue from table games increased by 21.5 per cent to $25.7m, and hybrid table games added $30,683.
Ameristar St. Charles maintained its position as the state’s top performer, generating $27.3m in revenue. That’s a rise of 7.06 per cent year-on-year. Both River City and Hollywood reported growth of 11 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively, while St. Jo Frontier Casino was the only operator to register a decline, down 2 per cent year-on-year to $4.2m.
The introduction of sports betting in Missouri is expected from December 1. Nine companies have applied for a licence in the state. DraftKings and Circa Sports have received two of Missouri’s limited untethered permits. Bet365, BetMGM, Caesars, Fanatics, FanDuel, PENN Entertainment (ESPN Bet) and Underdog aim to enter the market through partnerships with casinos or professional sports teams.
Missouri voters approved sports betting through Amendment 2 in November 2024. Revenue generated from sports wagering will be taxed at a rate of 10 per cent with the potential allowance of deductions for promotional offers and federal taxes.
