Missouri on track for sports betting launch

The Missouri Gaming Commission has confirmed the launch date.

US.- The Missouri Gaming Commission has confirmed December 1 as the launch date for sports betting in the state. The regulator began accepting applications for sports betting licences last month.

Applications for the two untethered online sports betting licences available must be submitted by July 15. Applicants will have to appear before the commission on August 13, and the winning applicants will be announced two days later. Applications for retail and mobile licences must be submitted by September 12. These must be partnerships with one of the state’s six professional sports franchises or 13 land-based casinos. The commission will issue up to 19 licences for retail sportsbooks and up to 14 licences for online platforms.

Missouri voters approved sports betting through Amendment 2 in November 2024, passing the measure by a margin of just 50.1 per cent. In accordance with federal law, under 21s will not be allowed to gamble. Revenue generated from sports wagering will be taxed at a rate of 10 per cent with the potential allowance of deductions for promotional offers and federal taxes.
