Mississippi may soon host a new casino
Biloxi House LLC has filed an application with the state regulator to open a new casino in Mississippi, to be located where the Margaritaville casino was.
US.- A company may soon revamp the Margaritaville Casino in Mississippi into a whole new casino resort. Biloxi House LLC has filed an application with the state regulator to build an expanded venue at the same location.
Should the Mississippi Gaming Commission approve the venue, it would be the fourth casino in South Mississippi. It would join the three other venues the commission approved this year.
The new development will include the 68k square-foot building where the original casino was located. However, Tom Moore, one of the venue’s developers, told local media that “nothing’s going to be the same.”
The new Mississippi casino will include a 300 room hotel, expected to mix the “Old Biloxi” vibe with an environmentally-friendly look that incorporates “lots of wood, steel and warm earth colors,” Moore said. Furthermore, it will have a top tier restaurant, a sports lounge, marina space, entertainment venues, and other amenities.
Moore also anounced it will have a “unique amenity,” but refused to reveal details about it. However, he said it will be partnering with “one of the largest events in the state of Mississippi.”
Mississippi casino revenue in 2018
According to figures released by the state gambling regulator from Mississippi, casino revenues increased during last year’s operations. Statewide revenue also increased with the revenue of sports betting’s performance.
Statewide revenue increased 1.7% in 2018 to US$2.1 billion, up by approximately US$45 million from 2017. Despite the positive results, last year’s performance wasn’t near historical highs due to the legalisation of sports betting in near states, as well as inflation and increased competition in local casinos.
