Maryland sports betting handle comes in flat in January

The handle decreased 0.5 per cent year-over-year and 3.3 per cent from December.

US.- The Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported that the sports betting handle was $615.8m in January. That’s a decline of 0.5 per cent year-over-year and 3.3 per cent from December 2025.

Of the total, $604.7m was bet online, while retail locations accounted for $11.1m. Winnings totalled $539.1m, with operators holding 12.5 per cent of the handle.

The sports wagering market generated $10.9m in contributions to the state. The combined retail and mobile contribution to the Blueprint Fund was $8.2m, while an additional $2.7m in mobile proceeds went to the General Fund.

Through the first seven months of fiscal year 2026 (July 2025 through January 2026), sports betting contributions stand at $89.5m. The full-year total for 2025 was $88.9m.

Maryland’s six casinos generated $147.8m in revenue from slot machines and table games in January. That’s a decrease of 2.6 per cent year-over-year and of 7.4 per cent sequentially.

According to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission, MGM National Harbor led the market with $61.8m in revenue, down 8.5 per cent year-over-year. It was followed by Live! Casino & Hotel, with revenue of $56.3m, up 2.2 per cent.
