Maryland casinos’ revenue goes flat in February
The six state casinos posted revenue just 0.1% higher year-on-year during the second month of 2019 to US$136.8 million.
US.- Maryland Lottery and Gaming revealed the results for the casino industry in February and disclosed far from exciting figures. During the second month of 2019, the six venues in the state posted only a 0.1% revenue increase as it reached US$136.8 million.
Revenue last month was less than US$200k better than last year’s, in what was a mostly disappointing period for the industry.
The total take for gaming venues out of the total revenue was US$57.2 million, while US$42.9 million was sent to the Maryland Education Trust Fund.
MGM National Harbor led the industry during February as it reached US$53.9 million gaming revenue, up 1.5% year-on-year, and continues to account for nearly 40% of the total US$136.8 million revenue for the six venues. Live! Casino & Hotel followed with US$46 million in February gaming revenue but was down 2% from the same month in 2018.
Baltimore’s Horseshow Casino came up third, but also saw a gaming revenue drop of 3.6% to US$20.7 million during last month. Hollywood Casino Perryville (up 2.6%), Ocean Downs near Ocean City (up 15.3%) and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Cumberland (up 3.8%) followed.
