US.- Maryland’s six casinos generated $162.6m in gaming revenue in April, down 0.3 per cent compared to April 2024 and down 5.8 per cent compared to March ($172.1m).

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission reported that MGM National Harbor generated $68.6m in revenue. It was followed by Live! Casino & Hotel, with revenue of $58.9m. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore generated $15.6m, Hollywood Casino Perryville $7.9m, Ocean Downs Casino $7.5m and Rocky Gap Casino $4m.

Rocky Gap Casino saw the most significant decrease compared to March 2024, down 4.1 per cent year-on-year, while Horseshoe Casino Baltimore saw the most significant increase, up 6.2 per cent year-on-year.

Casino gaming contributions to the state totalled $70.5m, an increase of 1.1 per cent compared to April 2024. Contributions to the Education Trust Fund were $50.9m, also up 1.1 per cent year-on-year.

In March, the Maryland House Ways and Means Committee amended governor Wes Moore’s proposed sports betting tax increase, proposing a rate of 20 per cent instead of 30 per cent. Legislators voted 13-5 on the measure while rejecting a proposed increase in casino table game taxes from 20 to 25 per cent in a separate vote. A 20 per cent rate would represent a middle ground between the current 15 per cent rate and the 30 per cent rate proposed in Moore’s budget plan.
