May saw a year-on-year 9 percent increase in lottery sales in Mainland China.
China.- The Ministry of Finance reported that sales of official lottery products in Mainland China increased almost 9 percent last month, when compared to the results obtained during the same month in 2016.
Whilst the number is a 1.4 percent decrease from April, the sales totaled US$5.5 billion in May. Last month, the territory also experienced a 9.6 percent increase to US$5.5 billion as well. As sports lottery sales increased its number by 19.8 percent to 19.47 billion, welfare lottery results were down by 0.8 percent year-on-year. As the Ministry revealed, sales were up in 22 of the 31 provinces that are currently authorised to offer lottery tickets.
Guandgdong is placed for a second month in a row as one of the best selling provinces, even if during May it experienced a combined sales fall of 4.3 percent. Last month, a rumor that China could soon open up to a domestic football lottery emerged in the country. Some executives at betting companies think that there’s a real chance that a football lottery might happen.
