Las Vegas casinos hiring staff to prepare for full reopening
With many venues already operating at full capacity, some casinos in Las Vegas are holding job fairs to recruit staff.
US.- Casinos in Las Vegas are hiring staff after being allowed to return to full capacity. Capacity restrictions have been lifted for all venues today (Tuesday June 1)
Governor Steve Sisolak permitted casinos to resume operations in early June 2020, but venues had to operate with capacity restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The restrictions had already been lifted for some venues that showed that the majority of staff had been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Boyd Gaming, which owns the Fremont Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas, has announced a job fair that will take place on June 10.
Boyd’s Main Street Station Casino, Brewery and Hotel has not yet reopened since the lockdown began in March 2020, but it is hiring at other properties, company spokesman David Strow told the Las Vegas Review.
Unemployment in Las Vegas stood at 34.2 per cent last year, according to the Wall Street Journal. That makes it the worst of any metropolitan area in the US with a population of more than one million.
Las Vegas Casinos look for an economic rebound
Other casino companies are also hiring in Nevada, including Golden Entertainment, which owns several PT’s pubs and hotel casinos such as the Strat Hotel, Casino and Skypod in Las Vegas.
Buffets and entertainment are also resuming in the Sin City.
Following the decision to allow casinos the decision on whether to continue Covid-19 countermeasures, Caesars Palace, MGM Grand and Circus Circus have now joined South Point and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in reopening their buffets.
The Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars is the first to reopen with a traditional serve-yourself format. Some casinos have also already lifted the requirement for guests to wear face masks, although others are still cautious.
“It is a very good sign that we have made such a rapid economic comeback,” Amanda Belamino, assistant professor of hospitality at UNLV told the Las Vegas Review.
