Kansspelautoriteit regulates the local market

The gaming authority for the Dutch market has set new regulations for online gaming companies.

Netherlands.- The Government of the Netherlands recently published new rules to legislate the iGaming market, which includes a timeout for companies that were previously banned by the national authority for the industry, the Kansspelautoriteit. Thtimeoutut ban will be unspecified, according to the legislation.

International companies fined by the Kansspelautoriteit will also face a timeout to apply for licences or renew their previous one also for an undetermined time, according to the Netherlands Minister for Justice and Security Sander Dekker. The regulation took effect last Thursday when the regulator published the approved rules.

Furthermore, Sander Dekker suggested to the local media that sanctioned operators should be excluded from the study of potential operators for the legal market, leading to a permanent ban for international companies that have already been sanctioned by the Kansspelautoriteit.

Moreover, it added proposals that include a strict separation of games of chance and digital offering of games, as well as restrictions on games advertising with betting elements, an age rating of games with betting elements and information to parents and schools about the risks of games of chance and games with betting elements.

At the meeting in October, the authority wants to exchange views on these subjects and hear opinions from market parties and other stakeholders.
