Japan casino bill moves forward
A special committee gathered yesterday to draft the casino implementation bill in Japan.
Japan.- Although the problem gambling legislation has not been evaluated yet, Japan Experts’ Committee has gathered this week to assess the next step towards the casino market implementation. The committee has approved and planned several projects to move forward with the gaming legalisation.
Officials met last Tuesday at Prime Minister’s Official Residence under the chairmanship of Hitotsubashi University Professor Hirotaka Yamauchi, as Asia Gaming Brief revealed. According to the report, the Japanese government would establish a Casino Management Board as the official regulating entity of the upcoming market.
Furthermore, the committee agreed that the resorts would offer an only and secured casino, which would be regulated by law as to the floor space extension. Japanese casinos would also allegedly avoid ATMs and credit card payments.
Meanwhile, Wakayama city announced potential plans of allowing a casino in the prefecture region. “We have been formulating a master plan for the establishment of an IR and will try to fix [announce] it by November,” Wakayama prefectural government’s spokesperson commented to GGRAsia. “We think it’s important to share our plan with operators and the citizens of Wakayama as soon as possible.”
