Iowa took in $287.2m in bets during November, setting a record for handle for the third straight month.

US.- The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has revealed sports betting revenue and handle reached new monthly highs in the state during November. The state took in $287.2m in bets during November, up 2.3 per cent from the previous record of $280.9m (October 2021) and 229.5 per cent more than November 2020’s $87.2m.

Online betting accounted for $260.4m of the total wagers placed during the month, while players also spent $26.9m betting on sports at retail facilities across the state.

Consumers won a total of $267.5m from betting on sports in November, which left $19.7m in revenue, a new monthly-high for Iowa, surpassing by 45.9 per cent the previous record set in March 2021( $13.5m).

November’s sports betting revenue was also up 201.2 per cent from October’s $6.6m and 142.5 per cent from November 2020’s $8.1m.

State taxes from November sports betting came to $2.1m, 301 per cent higher than October’s $514,642 and 275 per cent more than November 2020’s $549,726.

Diamond Jo in Worth’s FanDuel sportsbook led the sports betting market with $2.3m in revenue off a total handle of $26.2m. The Caesars sportsbook at Penn National’s Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, came second with $2.2m in revenue and a handle of $30.1m. The podium was completed by Penn National Gaming-owned venue Ameristar II, which uses Penn National’s Barstool brand, with $1.8m in revenue from $17.2m in wagers.
