Illinois rejects a casino proposal

An Illinois State’s village rejected a gaming expansion proposal that included the installation of a video gaming cafe.

US.- The State of Illinois is experiencing different debates in its villages about gaming expansion. However, in Oswego Village, the local Board this week rejected a gaming expansion proposal that included the installation of a video gaming cafe. The Board argued they did not like the location where the gaming salon would be installed.

“I am not comfortable with that location,” Trustee Pam Parr said during a debate with trustees meeting as a Committee of the Whole with interior and exterior renderings. “That is one of the entrances to our town. We have been pretty deliberate in where we have allowed specifically gambling parlours and they have been off the beaten path and with a history of not being occupied.”

Furthermore, Trustee Joe West – who has consistently voiced his concerns with gambling establishments overall – said the gambling cafe would be just down the street from District 308’s Oswego High School and East View Elementary,” as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

Meanwhile, nine local businesses in Burr Ridge, Illinois, made a request to add gambling machines and triggered a debate among Village Board members. Some of them are considering their legalisation as they see a potential stream of fresh revenue to ease the deficits on some of their budgets.
