Southern Indiana casino to move to land

An old riverboat southern Indiana casino, the Horseshoe Southern Indiana, will move its offshore operation into a land-based venue.

US.- After years of operating offshore, a traditional gaming venue is finally moving to land. The Horseshoe Southern Indiana casino, which operates on a riverboat  will close next December 12 and move off the water.

The venue will shut down its offshore operation as a new new US$90 million, 110,000-square-foot casino opens. The new gaming facility would be located in Harrison County.

The riverboat is the largest in the United States, but will cease to exist on Thursday next week. It will stop operating under Horseshoe Southern Indiana and will now go as the Caesars Southern Indiana casino.

At the time the authorities approved the move, Brad Seigel, senior vice president and general manager of the property released a statement. He said that they can offer guests a fresh, new modern casino and an enhanced experience in land. “Integrating the food, entertainment and gaming outlets in one area builds upon the high-quality experience that guests expect from our property.”

“This project further demonstrates our continued enthusiasm for and commitment to the State,” Siegel said. “We appreciate the Commission’s decision today and look forward to continuing our positive working relationships at the State and local level.”
