FanDuel partners with St. Louis City SC for Missouri sports betting market entry

Two untethered digital licences in the state were awarded to DraftKings and Circa Sports.

US.- FanDuel has signed a partnership with Major League Soccer’s St. Louis City Soccer Club to access Missouri’s sports betting market after losing out to Draft Kings and Circa sports for an untethered licence.

The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) awarded untethered licences to DK Crown Holdings and Circa Hospitality Group last month, allowing them to offer mobile sports betting without partnering with a land-based casino or professional sports team. While it lost out on a direct licence, the deal with St. Louis City means that FanDuel will still be able to launch alongside the DraftKings and Circa on December 1.

Missouri will become the 25th state or territory where FanDuel offers mobile sports betting. The operators must still undergo further regulatory review

Mike Raffensperger, president of sports at FanDuel, commented: “Missouri is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and we are thrilled to partner with St. Louis City SC to introduce our industry leading product to the Show Me State. We look forward to supporting the team and engaging with the community as we bring America’s #1 Sportsbook to fans across Missouri.”

Matt Kalish, president of DraftKings North America, commented: “We’re pleased to secure one of two direct mobile licenses in Missouri — paving the way for us to bring DraftKings’ industry-leading online sportsbook to fans across the state. Missouri is home to several professional teams and deeply passionate fanbases, and we look forward to enhancing their sports experience with a dynamic and responsible mobile platform.”

Circa Sports CEO Derek Stevens added: “We didn’t win by trying to be the biggest. We won by staying true to who we are. Circa Sports has already connected with 81,000 Missourians through its Club One loyalty programme and plans to support local events and youth sports as part of its market entry.”

Missouri voters approved sports betting through Amendment 2 in November 2024, passing the measure by a margin of 50.1 per cent. In accordance with federal law, under 21s will not be allowed to gamble. Revenue generated from sports wagering will be taxed at a rate of 10 per cent with the potential allowance of deductions for promotional offers and federal taxes.
