Dutch regulator intensifies supervision of gaming operators’ control databases
Automated data quality checks identified possible shortcomings for all licence holders.
The Netherlands.- The Dutch gambling regulator kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has advised operators that it intends to increase its monitoring of licensees’ control databases (CDB). It told licence holders that it is very important that the data in the CDB is up-to-date, complete, reliable and verifiable so that it can effectively supervise compliance with the Gambling Act and other relevant laws and regulations.
The regulator said it recently carried out automated data quality checks on all active licence holders and identified one or more possible shortcomings for each licence holder. The nature, severity and frequency of these shortcomings differ per licence holder, it said.
“The KSA expects permit holders to remedy these shortcomings quickly and carefully. New checks will follow in the coming quarter to assess whether this has actually been done and whether the functioning and performance of the CDBs is sufficiently guaranteed,” the regulator warned.
TonyBet warned over prohibited betting options
Earlier this week, the KSA issued a warning to TonyBet for offering prohibited betting options. The operator offered bets on the winner of the Ballon d’Or and on the winner of the golden ball for the FIFA World Club Team Championship. Such markets are not allowed according to Dutch law.
The KSA noted that under Dutch law, operators can offer sports betting only on verifiable performance in official sports competitions, organised by recognised national or international sports organisations. The Ballon d’Or and the Club World Cup Golden Ball are prizes awarded based on a vote or jury verdict, and as such do not meet the conditions for permitted sports betting.
