Spain.- The Aragonese Association of Gambling Players in Rehabilitation has organised the IV Conference on Responsible Gambling. The gambling regulator from Spain, the Directorate General for Game Management (DGOJ), was part of the event, which took place on November 12 in Aragón.

According to the DGOJ, the conference started with a debate on proposals for greater protection against gambling. It featured the presence of different experts from the educational, academic and health areas. They developed the paper “Proposal for the improvement of access control to gaming venues: Facial recognition.”

Moreover, the specialists discussed different tools to prevent problem gambling and the practice of responsible gaming. The Deputy Director-General of Management and Institutional Relations of the DGOJ, Susana Campuzano, was part of the discussion.

Campuzano presented some of the latest measures developed or under development by the DGOJ. One of these initiatives includes a phishing alert service as well as different initiatives underway as the result of the Responsible Gaming Work Program.

Furthermore, the conference discussed the prevention, control and inspection of the Directorate General and Interior and Civil Protection, by the Aragon government and the national police.

New push against gambling in Spain

The Ciudadanos parliamentary group filed a non-law proposal (NLP) that seeks to limit sports betting’s possibilities in Spain.

The measure adds to a push against the gaming sector in Spain that added blows in different regions.

“It’s an issue that worries us and that it’s urgent to solve it. The number of young problem gamblers is increasing. Today we have known that La Rioja is one of the three communities that spends the most money on sports betting,” they said. “Therefore, it’s necessary to update regulations to protect our young people,” Ciudadanos spokesman Pablo Baena said.
