Detroit casino revenue increases in May

The three casinos reported $114m in revenue, up 1.2 per cent year-over-year.

US.- Detroit’s three casinos collectively generated $114m in revenue in May, up 1.2 per cent year-over-year and up 3 per cent from April 2025. Table games and slot machines generated $112.7m and retail sports betting contributed $1.3m.

According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, MGM Grand Detroit accounted for 47 per cent of the market share, MotorCity Casino 30 per cent and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 23 per cent.

MGM Grand Detroit’s revenue was up 2.4 per cent year-over-year at $53.1m, while MotorCity Casino’s increased 0.6 per cent to $33.9m and Hollywood Casino at Greektown’s was down 0.2 per cent to $25.7m.

The three casinos paid $9.1m in state gaming taxes, compared to $9m in the same month in 2024. The casinos submitted $13.4m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit in May.

The three Detroit casinos reported a retail sports betting handle of $9.2m, with total gross receipts amounting to $1.3m. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) decreased by 31.1 per cent compared to May 2024 but rose from April. Casinos paid $48,431 in state gaming taxes and reported submitting $59,193 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.
