Detroit casinos report $109.8m in revenue for April
Revenue increased by 1.5 per cent year-on-year.
US.- Detroit’s three casinos generated $109.8m in revenue for April, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Table games and slots generated $109.5m, while retail sports betting generated $316,538.
Combined revenue from table games and slots increased by 1.5 per cent in April 2025 when compared to the same month last year but fell by 6.3 per cent decrease compared to March 2025. From January 1 through April 30 of this year, table games and slots revenue was down by 0.5 per cent compared to the same period in 2024.
MGM Grand Detroit Casino accounted for 47 per cent of the market share, MotorCity Casino 30 per cent and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 23 per cent. MGM’s revenue was up 2.5 per cent year-on-year at $51.1m, while MotorCity’s revenue increased by 1.2 per cent to $33.1m and Hollywood Casino at Greektown saw revenue decrease by 0.2 per cent to $25.3m.
The three casinos paid $8.9m in state gaming taxes, compared to $8.7m in the same month last year, plus $13m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.
The three Detroit casinos reported a retail sports betting handle of $9.4m, with total gross receipts amounting to $336,021. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) were down 79.8 per cent compared to April 2024 and 44.6 per cet compared to March 2025. Casinos paid $20,276 in state gaming taxes and reported $24,781 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit based on retail sports betting revenue.
