Detroit casino revenue decreases in December

Revenue totalled $105.1m, down 4.2 per cent year-over-year.

US.- The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported that MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown collectively generated $105.1m in revenue in December. That’s a decrease of 4.2 per cent year-over-year and 2.9 per cent from November 2025.

Of the total revenue, table games and slots generated $103.4m, down 5.4 per cent year-over-year. Retail sports betting generated $1.7m.

MGM Grand Detroit Casino accounted for 49 per cent of the market share with revenue of $50.7m, down 1 per cent, while MotorCity Casino accounted for 29 per cent, with $30m, down 9.2 per cent, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 22.7 per cent, with $24.4m, down 9.5 per cent.

The three casinos paid $8.4m in state gaming taxes, up from $8.62m in the same month in 2024. They also submitted $12.8m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.

The venues reported a combined retail sports betting handle of $12.2m, generating $1.8m in gross receipts. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) increased $1.4m year-over-year and by 0.7 per cent from November 2025. The casinos paid $64,999 in state taxes from retail sports betting revenue and submitted $79,444 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.

The total aggregate revenue for 2025 was $1.28bn, generated by $1.02bn from slots, $247.8m from table games, and $14.2m from retail sports betting. In 2025, the three casinos paid the state $102.5m in wagering taxes for slots and table games, and $535,323 in wagering taxes for retail sports betting.
