Danske Spil reports revenue of €650m for 2021
The Danish lottery and gaming operator saw revenue increase by 1.9 per cent year-on-year.
Denmark.- Danske Spil has reported full-year gross gaming revenue of DKK4.83bn (€650m) for 2021, a rise of 1.9 per cent from 2020. Lottery accounted for DKK2.79bn, an increase from DKK2.63bn in 2020. Danske Licens Spil’s sports betting and gaming products brought in DKK1.82bn.
The gaming hall brand Elite Gaming generated DKK207.8m in 2021 and the Swush fantasy sports platform contributed DKK15.1m. Some 58 per cent of all revenue was generated online. Gaming profits reached DK3.46bn, up from DK3.40bn in 2020, and total profits after tax of DKK1.63bn, up 11.6 per cent year-on-year. Some DKK1.48bn came from Danske Lotteri Spil.
Danske Spil CEO Nikolas Lyhne-Knudsen said: “The year ended with record profit after tax of DKK1.48bn. It is a result of innovation and new products, successful sales and effective marketing, digitisation and a strengthening of the subscription business, through which Danske Lotteri Spil received approximately 7,500 new customers in 2021.
“In 2021, we again increased our focus on responsibility and on creating the greatest possible value for Danish society. We have an attitude to entertainment. We are responsible for responsible entertainment that creates dreams and experiences.”
Last year, Pernille Mehl stepped down as CEO of Danske Spil Lotteries. She left in October after six years in the role.
