Canada.- GAN-owned Coolbet has announced that it will be leaving the Ontario market in April. The online sportsbook and casino will turn off all deposit options on March 21 and shut down its gaming operations on March 22. It will close its site and mobile app on April 3.

The operator entered the Canadian province of Ontario’s regulated market in April 2022 under an iGaming Ontario (iGO) licence. The online gambling market in Ontario opened on April 4, 2022.

The operator said in a blog post: “We strongly encourage you to withdraw your funds as soon as possible. In case you have not made any withdrawals before, we would require you to verify your bank account that will be used to pay out your remaining balance. Once you have requested the withdrawal please check your email for further instructions on how to complete the verification.”

GAN acquired the Vincent Group, parent company of Coolbet, in 2021. The $175m cash and stock deal was first announced in November 2020 and helped position GAN as a full-service B2B solutions provider for real-money gaming in the US market.

Betsson launches Betsafe in Ontario

In February, Betsson was granted operator and supplier licences for online gaming in the province of Ontario. It’s launched a B2C offering has just been launched through its Betsafe brand.

Betsafe is offering sports betting and an online casino on the Strive Gaming platform, which is 40 per cent-owned by Betsson. The product offering for Ontario has been localised. Betsson has also received a supplier licence, which enables it to offer its sportsbook product on a B2B basis to other operators.
