Connecticut closer to commercial casino
The House of Representatives met on Saturday and discussed if there’s enough votes to pass the casino proposal.
US.- Connecticut legislators are still considering the possibility of burning another casino to the state: multiple proposals have emerged in the last couple of months, but the House of Representatives is still considering if there’s enough votes to make it happen.
Connecticut legislators approved gaming expansion in the state, as economy experts were concerned about the opening of neighbor MGM Springfield casino. With the latest approval, local native tribes Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan are near to be allowed to operate a new gaming venue in East Windsor. As the Norwich Bulletin reported, the bill is stuck in the House because other legislators want an open process to allow other operators to compete for a license.
Other complaints include the fact that lawmakers believe that the state should charge a licensing fee to the tribes that want to operate the casino. The numbers would move between the US$25 million to US$250 million. In late May, East Hartford was also presented as another option to develop the third casino in the state.
