Colorado sports betting handle decreases in May
The handle decreased 5.3 per cent year-over-year.
US.- The Colorado Division of Gaming has released its monthly sports betting report for May. The sports betting handle was $469.1m, down 5.3 per cent year-over-year.
Parlays led the market with $190m in bets, followed by basketball with $91.7m and baseball with $61.7m. Table tennis generated a $34m handle. Gross gaming revenue totalled $44.7m, down 9 per cent, and taxes totalled $3.86 m, up 7.7 per cent.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis has signed Senate Bill 26-131 into law, introducing new sports betting restrictions from August 12. The legislation limits bettors to six deposits within a 24-hour period and bans the use of credit cards for funding accounts. It also prohibits marketing directed at people under the age of 21 and prohibits operators from sending promotional push notifications or text messages encouraging customers to make bets or deposits.
