Colorado sports betting handle reaches $385.2m in May

The sports betting handle was up 6.9 per cent year-on-year.

US.- Colorado’s sports betting handle totalled $385.2m in May. That’s an increase of 6.9 per cent year-on-year, but a decrease of 7.8 per cent from $417.8m in April. Some $382.1m was wagered online and $3.2m at retail sportsbooks. 

The Colorado Department of Revenue reported that gross gaming revenue was $31.4m, an increase of 15.9 per cent compared to the same month in 2022 but 10.5 per cent less than in April ($35.1m). Online sports betting accounted for the vast majority at $31.2m. Retail locations reported $216,433.

Basketball was the most popular sport to bet on in May, accounting for 32.2 per cent of the market, followed by baseball, with 23.8 per cent of the bets. Parlay and combination bets made up 16.9 per cent of May’s handle. Players won $353.8m while the state took $2.2m in taxes.
