Chilean gambling regulator opens new casino licensing process

The SCJ will grant casino operating permits in four Chilean municipalities.

Chile.- The Superintendency of Gaming Casinos (SCJ) has opened the process for granting four casino operating permits for the municipalities of Iquique, Coquimbo, Viña del Mar, and Pucón. The regulator confirmed the process in Exempt Resolutions No. 112, No. 113, No. 114, and No. 115.

Interested bidders can download the technical specifications and access the application system and make applications until July 23 of this year. A Technical and Economic Proposal Presentation Hearing is scheduled for July 24 at 10:00 AM at the offices of the Gaming Casino Superintendency in Santiago.

Bidders have until February 13 to submit questions and requests for clarification via the email address in the specifications. The Superintendency has fifteen days to respond, with the deadline being March 6.

Within a maximum period of 120 business days following the Offer Presentation Hearing, the Superintendence must carry out the process of evaluating the technical offers through the methodology detailed in the Technical Bases.

Chile currently has 25 licensed land-based casinos, which generated CLP388bn (€383m) in the nine months to September, a decline of 5 per cent year-on-year. Visitation in the third quarter fell to 4.6 million, but the spend per visitor rose by a 1.7 per cent to CLP84,667 (€84m).
