New Orleans casinos registered a strong performance in May after the lifting of most Covid-19 restrictions but statewide revenue fell.

US.- New Orleans casino revenue rose 2.2 per cent month-on-month in May, according to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

The three riverboats casinos, Harrah’s and the slots at the Fair Grounds racetrack together brought in $56.3m, up from $55.1m in April.

However, as for wider Louisiana, the state’s 13 riverboat casinos, four racinos and Harrah’s brought in $228.2m in May , down 3.2 per cent from $235.8m in April.

Video poker brought in $77.6m, down 8.3 per cent from the nearly $84.7m in April. In May 2020, video poker generated nearly $23.9m.

The state has relaxed Covid-19 measures such as the mandatory use of masks and cleared the way for live entertainment.

Best performers casinos in Louisiana

Horseshoe Casino Bossier City saw the biggest month-to-month increase in winnings. The casino was up 8.2 per from $16.3m to $17.6m.

Harrah’s New Orleans had an 6.7 per cent increase from $25.1m to $26.8m. Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner was up 3.9 per cent from $8.8m to $9.2m.

Sam’s Town in Shreveport was up 3.6 per cent, from $5.9m to $6.1m. L’Auberge Baton Rouge was up 0.9 per cent from $18 million to $18.2m.

Delta Downs in Vinton was down 0.9 per cent from $16.7m to $16.6m.
